I am delighted to welcome you to our website.

Ard Scoil Chiaráin is located in Clara, Co Offaly and is a relatively small, inclusive, multi denominational school for boys and girls  where we know and support each other in a safe & caring environment. We are a proactive school which responds to the needs of our school and the wider community. Our facilities are growing with numerous new classrooms added in recent years and we are also looking forward to progressing the whole school redevelopment which is underway here.

We are one of nine post primary schools under the trusteeship of Laois and Offaly Education & Training Board.

We are proud of our academic record as is evidenced by the success of our pupils in the Leaving Certificate over many years. We are proud, too, of the wide range of extra-curricular activities that we are able to provide in sports and other areas and of the success we have achieved in these areas.

Ard Scoil Chiarain Naofa promotes the holistic educational development of all within the school community. We strive for academic excellence and aim to maximise the potential of each individual in a safe, caring and respectful environment.

We offer a full range of subjects at both higher and ordinary level in the Junior and Leaving Certificate and also offer the JCSP, LCA and LCVP programmes. The Brosna Centre (3 classes) caters for the needs of students with Autism who meet the criteria for an ASD specialist class setting. Brosna students attend mainstream classes as well as classes in Brosna.

All our students are afforded the opportunity to study academic and practical subjects, participate in a range of extracurricular activities and take part in programmes in Health and Physical education. We are proud of our academic record as is evidenced by the success of our pupils in the Leaving Certificate over many years and is borne out by the successful progression of our student to careers, apprenticeships and University . We are proud, too, of the wide range of extra-curricular activities that we are able to provide in sports and other areas and of the success we have achieved in these areas.

Our school community is fortunate to have a vibrant staff, an active Board of Management, Parents’ association and Student Council and in partnership we have devised comprehensive policies and procedures to support both our Mission Statement and our motto ‘Respect for All’.

The choice of second-level school for your son/daughter is a very important decision and I invite you to visit our school on Open Day when you can meet members of our teaching staff, view our premises and discuss your son/daughter’s educational needs. Alternatively, you can arrange to visit at other times by phoning the school on 057 9331231.

On behalf of the staff, the pupils and parents that make up the Ard Scoil Chiaráin Community, I trust that you will find our web site useful and informative.

Please feel free to contact me if you require further information
