Positivity Week: A Celebration of Community and Well-being

9 May, 2025 | Activities, Community, School Life

Monday to Wednesday of Positivity Week was brimming with activities for students, parents, and community members.

Monday kicked off with an adult painting class, complemented by the distribution of Positivity ribbons and a meditation session at school.

Thriving Tuesday focused on health and fitness. Gym classes at Joe Quinn’s were organized for parents and 2nd-year students. Additionally, we enjoyed an inspiring talk by Oisin Mulligan on enhancing happiness and positivity in our lives.

Thankful Thursday was a great success. The day began with students contributing to our gratitude wall. After lunch, the three schools of Clara joined together with their teachers and families. This day would not have been possible without the support of amazing volunteers. A big shout-out goes to Carmel Hiney for teaching over 500 students how to line dance. We were also treated to incredible live music by New Light Duo. Huge thanks to DG Transport for the use of their trailer, Kevin Roe and Clara GAA for the use of their pitch and facilities, and of course, Ms. Mulraney for always being there to help and support.

That’s a wrap! As Positivity Week comes to a close, we remember that positivity is not just for one week; we can choose to add positivity to our lives every day. Today, we enjoyed the company of our parents at our coffee morning, where families of our students enjoyed treats and live music from our own school music group. During lunch, our students were treated to ice cream as a thank you for their participation. Again, we would like to express our gratitude to the parents and the community of Clara for getting involved in our initiatives. Thank you to all of our educational groups in the town for playing their part. Thank you to the staff and students of ASCN who helped along the way.
