16 Oct, 2022 | Sport

On Friday 14th October, the Gaelic Football team played against Castlepollard Community College in Castlepollard. It was a sunny day, perfect conditions for the match ahead.

Castlepollard opened the score with a point after only a few minutes, but James Dolan scored a goal and got Clara in the lead, bringing up the team’s confidence. First half was very tight with both Castlepollard and Clara taking turns in the lead. Clara’s defence was brilliant blocking everything that came at them. James Dolan and Dylan Dunne scored two more goals each, getting their ha-tricks. Castlepollard came back with a goal just before half-time.

The second half started, and Clara got the first score of the period. Castlepollard scored their first point of the game and made a good comeback by scoring two goals. Dylan Dunne scored a point to keep Clara in the game, followed by Tadgh Maher. Liam Fitzpatrick got a yellow card and so did the Castlepollard goalkeeper. Clara scored their one last point just before the final whistle.

It was a tight 6-5 to 5-5 win for Clara and Dylan Dunne got man of the match.
