Our LCA and Brosna Unit students recently embarked on an exciting environmental project to begin creating a mini woodlands right on our school grounds. Guided by a passion for nature and sustainability, they planted a variety of native trees, including oaks, birches, and maples, – some grown from seed in our polytunnel and some donated by our local tidytowns and Dalys native trees. This will help to transform a section of the school into a budding mini woodlands. This hands-on project not only enhances our school’s landscape but also serves as a living classroom, teaching students about ecosystems, biodiversity, and the importance of conservation. As the trees grow, they will provide shelter for wildlife, improve air quality, and offer a peaceful space for learning and reflection. We have also been maintaining our little wild woodland area planted last year with a hedgerow. Both these initiatives are a lasting testament to our students’ commitment to a greener future.
