College Awareness Week

29 Nov, 2023 | Senior Cycle

What a fantastic lineup of speakers and activities we’ve had for #collegeawarenessweek 2023 👨‍🎓🚜🖥🔬👩‍🔬📚🏥👨‍🔧⚡️👩‍🎓.
On Monday, a representative from Gurteen Agricultural College came to speak to Transition Year and 5LCA students. Students learned about the courses available in both agriculture and forestry, and the progression routes available to them.
On Tuesday, we were delighted to have Vincent Dignam, a past student of ASCN, speaking to our Transition Year students about Ericsson and career opportunities in Software Development.
On Tuesday evening, there was an information evening for parents and students of 5th & 6th year on The Next Step. Irene Toger, Principal of Tullamore FETC, gave an insight in PLC courses available in their college. Mary Leech, from Midlands Skills, gave a great overview of apprenticeships and the many options available. Kay Mitchell from Maynooth University gave a thorough overview of the CAO process.
5th & 6th Year students also enjoyed a very informative talk from Ulster Univeristy and the many options available there.
Our talented teachers spoke to many classes during the week about their college journey. Many classroom activities also took place this week around College Awareness.

Thank you to everyone for taking part!
