Leaving Certificate Established
The Leaving Certificate Established is of two years duration, providing students with a broad and balanced education alongside the opportunity to specialise though their subject choice.
As this is the terminal examination of students Post Primary education they will tend to choose subjects in which they have a particular interest or wish to pursue at further education.
The school has the facility of a Guidance Counsellor who will be available to assist students in the all important decision of subject and career choice.
Core Examination Subjects
To satisfy the provisions of the Leaving Certificate students are required to study the following subjects.
- English
- Irish
- Mathematics
Optional Examination Subjects
Students choose four subjects from the following grouping to accumulate a total of seven subjects to be pursued for the Leaving Certificate.
- Accounting
- Art
- Biology
- Business
- Chemistry
- Construction Studies
- Design and Communication Graphics
- Engineering
- French
- Geography
- History
- Home Economics
- Physics
Non Examination Subjects
Leaving Certificate students are offered the following additional subjects.
- Career Guidance
- Computer Studies
- Religion
Students results will subsequently be translated into points, as entry to third level institutions is through the CAO system.
